Freckles close up

Some of the details were hard to see on the drawing itself so here's some close ups of it.

If you're wondering what I used to make the eye so white and 3-dimensional looking... I used a kneaded eraser and a Fabercastell perfection(sharpened at a VERY small point, like a needle) and then went over it with white charcoal. It took about 4 hours to draw one eye. The eye is approximately 3 inches in length. Everything else I either drew in or erased.

For the majority of the hair, I drew it in strand-by strand and touched it up with the FC(fabercastell) Perfection. And i also took a mechanical pencil(with no lead sticking out) and scraped in the hairs into the paper before I drew it, because it's impossible to get individual white hairs on a completely black background.

For the mouth I used the FC perfection. The skin was so difficult to do. More so than the hair. The freckles were extremely easy, as most of them were made with the blending stump and just layering over with HB. It's hard to get the shading and the freckles consistent with one another.

And regarding the scarf, if you're wondering how I did the individual strings, it's not that complicated actually.... I just drew every single one of them in. No eraser used. It surprisingly didn't take that long but there were SO many details to put.

It was really, quite a project to work on.
